Kenia is a certified Bilingual and ESL NYC teacher with Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Speech Language Pathology and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She has always had a true passion for teaching and currently works as a 5th grade bilingual teacher in a NYC public school in the Bronx. Aside from that, she has worked, volunteered or interned in many child care centers and programs prior to becoming a certified teacher to build her repertoire such as Bronx Helpers Program, Head Start of Eastern Orange County, Bell Summer Program, Imagine Early Learning Center, etc. After watching her mother run her own day care for over 30 years, she knew that she wanted to take the same footsteps and work with children. Her strong desire and passion have inspired her to open a Pre-K program and after-school program for elementary children in her community! She manages the day-to-day procedures of the programs and some of her responsibilities include registration or child enrollment, billing, coordinating the afterschool and summer programs, organizing the family events and field trips. She wants to build a strong community and bring the FUN out of children and families because as she always says, “It takes a village to raise a child!”

As a native Spanish speaker, she understands Little Hearts Playhouse mission and philosophy to promote bilingualism. Her daughter has served as her inspiration to teach Spanish immersion classes to help children immerse in a bilingual and multicultural environment. She believes in helping children and their families who also share the same vision of promoting bilingualism. During her free time, she also does a lot of arts and crafts with her daughter. Kimberlyn has a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from the New York Institute of Technology and dedicated 8 years in New York City as a Meetings and Events Sales Manager. She decided to follow her mother’s and sister’s footsteps, both whom dedicated decades in early child care and education, when she became a mother for the first time to her son Orlando. This is when she realized what her passion truly was, and that was providing a safe and loving learning environment to young children. She has always been nurturing and has always focused on taking care of people, however, she wanted to focus this time on taking care of little ones and making sure they have the best time.  She is also a bilingual parent who shares the same level of desire in promoting bilingualism within the youth community and will commit to spreading that goal at Little Hearts Playhouse.
