Preschool Program
Ages 2-5
Our 10-month preschool program is designed to give children a strong foundation for kindergarten while introducing bilingualism at an early age. By combining research-based curricula in both English and Spanish, we ensure that our students develop essential skills in literacy and math, with a focus on language acquisition and communication.
In our literacy program, we align our approach to the science of reading, incorporating the five pillars of literacy: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. These are embedded into daily activities to promote pre-foundational literacy skills, preparing children to become confident readers and communicators.
Our state-approved math program is aligned with the New York State Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards, and students engage with multisensory activities to learn key concepts such as:
- Counting to 5
- Recognizing and identifying shapes
- Counting to 10
- Comparing length, weight, and capacity
- Adding and subtracting stories, and counting to 20
In addition to our English curriculum, we have developed an accelerated Spanish curriculum specifically tailored to preschoolers. Our Spanish lessons are not translations of English content but rather a direct immersion into the Spanish language, focusing on phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency. By using the core structure of the Spanish language and creating an immersion environment with Comprehensible Input, students have meaningful opportunities to communicate in Spanish. This method encourages language acquisition in a natural and engaging way.
To further enhance communication skills, we have also adopted a sign language curriculum. Learning sign language has numerous benefits, such as improving memory, boosting problem-solving skills, and fostering non-verbal communication abilities. It also enhances students’ ability to understand language in different forms, improving their overall cognitive development.
By providing these diverse learning experiences, we aim to give each child a well-rounded education that fosters early academic success, cognitive development, and cultural awareness, setting them on a path to thrive in kindergarten and beyond.
